A crochet bag as a Christmas gift
A handmade bag is a gift you won't find in the shops: ready-made or made to order, when to ask for it and how to choose colours for someone else.

A crochet bag is a gift that gets noticed: one person makes it, by hand, one at a time, and there's no other like it. If you're thinking of giving one for Christmas, here are a few tips to choose well and not leave it too late.
Ready-made or made to order?
A ready-made bag is exactly what you see in the photos in the shop. You choose it on the site and I send it to an InPost locker, or you pick it up by hand, if that's possible in your area. It's the right choice if you're short of time or if one of them has already won you over.
A made-to-order bag is chosen by you: the shape, the size, the colours. It's perfect when you know exactly what the person receiving it likes. But every bag is made by hand, one at a time, and that takes time.
When to ask for it
For Christmas, don't wait until December. A made-to-order bag has to be made, and the ready-made ones are one of a kind: once one finds a home, there's no other like it. As the holidays get closer, you'll find on the site the dates by which to order or ask for your bag so it arrives in time.
How to choose colours for someone else
- Look at what they usually wear: the colour of their coat, their shoes, the bag they use most.
- When in doubt, a neutral colour: sand or cocoa go with everything, and a brighter second strand adds a cheerful touch without taking risks.
- Try it yourself first: on the colours page choose the shape, try the combinations and send me the one you like. I've also written about how to match the colours.
If it isn't the right one
With ready-made bags you have 14 days from when you receive them to change your mind: that's the right of withdrawal, explained in the terms of sale. Made-to-order bags don't have it, because they're made especially for you.
Would you like to know when a new bag is born, after the holidays too? Sign up to the newsletter: an email when there's something new, nothing more.
For Christmas? Ask me by Monday 30 November: every bag is made by hand, one at a time, and it takes time. Plan ahead!
